Final Opener
These titles focus on the concept of synergy, the idea that the power of things working together is greater than them working separately. By creating satisfying constructions and deconstructions of various objects and compositions, we depict how different things coming together causes evolution, creating something new and better.

We start off in a geometric world, with clear grids and sharp edges
A sudden transition to organic forms, with asymmetry and irregularity
Both come together to create beautiful crystal structures, with sharp edges yet asymmetrical and irregular forms
The team
This project was a collaboration between me and Morae Kim. Go check out her amazing work here!
Both of us had a hand in every part of the process and the creation of every style frame. For the most part, I handled 3D lighting, texturing, and simulations, while Morae created the logomark and typography system and created compositions for many of the style frames. We both animated and edited the final animation.
We went through what felt like hundreds of iterations and styles before landing on our final look. Here were some earlier experiments and process.

Logo Development
The logo was a natural complement to the language established in our style frames. It comes apart and back together with geometric modules. Morae lead the logo creation and iterations, while I animated the logo sting.

Conclusion
This project was truly a labor of love and all-nighters. I learned how to work with a partner and combine our different skillsets and ideas to create a look that was a combination of both of our styles, rather than just one person’s style or vision. I learned what roles in projects I enjoy taking on when someone else is there to carry some of the load. I significantly improved my design, lighting, and texturing skills from this project, and working with Morae changed the way I think about approaching projects and creating design directions. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on such a large and significant project, and the lessons I learned from working on this will help me be a better designer and collaborator with anyone I work with in the future.
